Dr. Fatema Alaali

She is the Dean of the College of Business and Management and an Associate Professor of Economics at the American University of Bahrain (AUBH). She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Sheffield, UK, an MBA from the New York Institute of Technology, and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bahrain. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Her research interests include applied economics and finance, energy and environmental economics, investment, asset pricing, and financial markets. Her research employs quantitative and econometric approaches to examine economic and financial relationships, with publications addressing topics including oil price shocks, stock market returns, firm-level investment, and economic development and environmental sustainability. In addition to her research experience, she has extensive academic and leadership experience in higher education. She has taught economics and finance courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and supervised student research projects and theses. As Dean, she contributes to academic planning, quality assurance, curriculum development, program enhancement, and research development within the College. She also serves as a research supervisor in the AUBH Doctor of Business Administration program, supporting applied research addressing contemporary business and economic challenges.
